Summer Nap Poem

an adaptation of Shakespeare's sonnet 18

Shall I feel a nap on a summer day?
Summer naps are lovely and temperate.
Heat waves stir the sleepy calls far away
And a nap's lease hath all too short a date
Sometimes nap long despite alarms of mine
And often my bed holds my section stilled
And every ounce of will somehow declines
By chance, or nature’s changing course; no chill
But nap's eternal appeal shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair restbit
Nor shall death brag a nap is but charade
When sleep patterns chart waters untested
So long as i breathe and have eyes to see
Long live the summer nap, it gives life to me!
